Balancing Growth and Agriculture
“When it comes to land use, I strongly support balancing conservation, growth & agriculture.”
Balancing conservation and agriculture:
With the Placer County Conservation Program (PCCP) in place, we are well-equipped for at least the next 50 years to provide area for development, while ensuring we protect our open space areas. As a County Supervisor and member of the Placer Conservation Authority, I’m implementing the PCCP, which will streamline processes for development, while creating a large, interconnected reserve system that ensures long term protection of sensitive species. I’m diligently advocating for agriculture, to ensure local family farms and local ranchers remain a thriving part of our economy and community.
Supporting a mix of different housing opportunities:
I understand the importance of the free market when it comes to housing, as supply and demand determine production, not government. That’s why I support streamlining processes and reducing fees where possible to assist in providing a mix of housing types, without compromising our standards. It’s important to provide a platform for the construction of attainable and achievable housing to ensure that our teachers, law enforcement, fire fighters and other working families are able to afford to live in the communities in which they work. Most important, this housing needs to be in areas that make sense, not large multi-family projects in our small rural communities.
Long term planning:
The best way to ensure Placer County remains the incredible place it is to live is to think long term. Considering how current development will impact our kids and grandkids is a vital responsibility of the Board of Supervisors. I believe we need to look down the road as Placer grows, to make sure we have thoughtful development and planning moving forward.
