Balancing Growth & Agriculture
Balancing conservation and agriculture:
With the Placer County Conservation Program (PCCP) in place, we are well-equipped for at least the next 50 years to provide area for development, while ensuring we protect our open space areas. As a County Supervisor, Shanti will help implement the PCCP, which will streamline processes for development, while creating a large, interconnected reserve system that ensures long term protection of sensitive species. She will also work diligently as an advocate for agriculture, to ensure ag remains a thriving part of our economy and community.
Supporting a free market economy while encouraging a mix of housing types:
Shanti is a free market supporter, where supply and demand regulate production and labor as opposed to government. She supports providing opportunities to streamline processes and reduce fees where possible to assist developers in providing a mix of housing types, without compromising our standards. Shanti believes it is important to provide a platform for developers to construct attainable and achievable housing to ensure that our teachers, law enforcement, fire fighters and others are able to afford to live in the communities in which they work.
Long term planning:
The best way to ensure Placer County remains the incredible place it is to live is to think long term. Considering how current development will impact our kids and grandkids is vital, and taking into account what future state regulations may require is important. Shanti believes we need to look down the road as Placer grows, to make sure we have thoughtful development and planning moving forward.
